What is th​​e SLA?

The Student Leadership Academy is a free, non-credit program designed to help you grow as a leader—on campus, in your community, and beyond. Whether you’re just starting to explore leadership or looking for a deeper, hands-on experience, this program is built to support you, challenge you, and help you discover your potential.

Rooted in the college’s mission to inspire, transform, and empower a diverse community of learners, the Student Leadership Academy creates inclusive spaces where students build confidence, develop real-world skills, and learn how to lead with purpose.

  • ​​Identify your leadership style and what motivates you to lead.

Mastering the Art of Effective Communication

  • Employ the fundamental principles of effective communication and deliver messages with clarity.​

Building Powerful Networks for Success 

  • Create and deliver a compelling elevator pitch and develop effective networking skills.

Crafting Your Ultimate Time Management Strategy 

  • ​Create a personal time management plan and identify effective techniques and tools.​

Navigating Conflict with Confidence and Skill

  • ​​Apply conflict resolution techniques and practice strategies for effective conflict handling.​

Strategic Decision Making for Leaders​

  • Employ a step-by-step decision-making process to make deliberate, thoughtful decisions.​​​

  • Complete approximately 6​​ in person leaderhsip workshops.
