Mission Statement
The mission of the Santa Ana College Learning Center is to enhance student academic success and support classroom instruction across disciplines. The Learning Center staff strives to meet the needs of students and maximize academic potential by creating an environment that is academically stimulating and welcoming. They recognize the unique abilities of each student and promote the Center as a place of equity where everyone has the opportunity to grow and learn. The Center offers one-on-one and small group tutoring, workshops, conversation circles, and customized directed learning activities that reinforce course content. The Center’s activities enhance what students learn in the classroom and emphasize the importance of good study habits and the development of skills for independent and life-long learning.
Code of Conduct
Santa Ana College's learning centers are places where we want everyone to feel welcome. Our faculty, staff and students have a wide range of experiences and backgrounds, and we all have something we can learn from each other. Whether you are attending an online workshop or participating in face-to-face tutoring, it is important that participants treat each other with respect and courtesy and follow some basic guidelines.
Especially when using technology for online tutoring, there may be glitches or delays as we familiarize ourselves with new systems and ways of learning. In tutoring sessions and workshops, whether they be online or in-person, there will be varying degrees of understanding. Be patient; ask questions; help each other.
We may have differences of opinions but that does not make it acceptable to bully, harass, insult or make personal attacks. We can agree to disagree in a civil manner.
Don't use profanity, racist, sexually inappropriate, or offensive language. Degrading comments about religion, culture, gender or identity will not be tolerated. We want everyone to feel comfortable and welcome in this learning environment.
We don't want to be in a position to ask anyone to leave a session. Rules will be enforced. If these guidelines are not followed, you will be asked to leave/ be removed.
