Welcome to FE4E
Future Educators for Excellence (FE4E) prepares students to be leaders in the field of education (e.g., teaching, library, counseling, school psychology, etc.) by encouraging active participation in career and academic planning, personal and professional development, and experiential learning through fieldwork. Students may join at any time and will be recognized upon completion of all requirements. Recognition will include certificates of participation and completion, as well as special recognition at the point of graduation.
How do I join?
Then, you will be invited to attend a 30-minute orientation with a Success Coach,
either in-person or via Zoom. Our Success Coach will prompt you to sign up for CFTE emails and register for a Future Educator Information Session.
What are the expectations for participants each semester?
- Attend a counseling appointment
- Participate in at least 1 approved activity
- Participate in fieldwork
- Build your skills through the FE4E Canvas course
What are the fieldwork requirements?
As you are a Future Educator, fieldwork must be student-facing in an educational
setting. Fieldwork can be paid (employment) or unpaid (volunteer), and can be completed
through class or on your own. If volunteering, we encourage students to utilize the Service Learning Program for help with placement and time sheet tracking. If you are interested in gaining employment in an educational setting, please visit our website for easy navigation
of open positions and connect with the Career Center for employment preparation.
Canvas Leadership Development Course
Students in the Future Educators for Excellence (FE4E) program are invited to join a self-paced Canvas Leadership Development Course. This course introduces various leadership styles, encourages self-reflection, and develops practical skills such as public speaking, time management, conflict resolution, and advocacy.
Participation contributes toward FE4E recognition and three levels of leadership
certification, which are recognized at our Future Educators Graduation Celebration.
How do I earn a graduation sash?
To receive a graduation sash, please complete the FE4E Completion Form (available for download on our website) to document your participation. Additionally, you must have at least 50 total fieldwork hours completed (or 40 fieldwork hours and leadership certificates) and earn a transferable GPA of 2.8 or higher. Once your paperwork is processed, you will be eligible for a graduation sash and invited to be honored at our FE4E End-of-Year Recognition event.
