Peer Advocate Program
Peer Advocates is a student support program designed to help students navigate conflict, communication challenges, and interpersonal concerns in a respectful and supportive way. Peer Advocates are trained student workers who provide a safe, neutral space to talk through concerns, explore options, and identify next steps before issues escalate.
If you’re experiencing conflict with another student, feeling stressed about a difficult conversation, or unsure how to handle a situation, Peer Advocates can help you think through your options. They listen, help clarify concerns, support problem-solving, and connect you with campus resources when needed. This is not a disciplinary service—it’s a support resource focused on early intervention, understanding, and constructive communication.
The Peer Advocate program aims to reduce conflict escalation, increase awareness of conflict-resolution resources on campus, and contribute to a positive, inclusive campus culture grounded in respect and empathy.
Students can utilize Peer Advocates by:
- Meeting for one-on-one support
- Talking through a conflict or concern in a confidential, neutral setting
- Learning strategies for communication, de-escalation, and resolution
- Getting referrals to appropriate campus resources when necessary
Whether you’re dealing with a misunderstanding, ongoing tension, or just need help figuring out how to approach a difficult conversation, Peer Advocates are here to support you.
Peer Advocates are:
- Trained student peers who provide a supportive, neutral space to talk
- A confidential resource for discussing conflict, stress, or communication challenges
- Guides who help you think through options and prepare for conversations
- A connection point to campus resources when additional support is needed
Peer Advocates are not:
- Disciplinary officers or decision-makers
- A replacement for formal complaint, conduct, or Title IX processes
- Counselors or legal advisors
- A service that takes sides or determines fault
